Over the centuries education has not narrowed contravention of selfishness in human beings rather enhanced its magnitude and manifestation. Education has no boundaries it lifts up the shutters of human hearts, enlightening the intellect to understand the unseen and ungraspable and above all weaves out a beautiful web of human relationship.

Ancient India conceived an intimate relationship between education and life. The true educators put their efforts to tune the minds of students to discover their abilities with relevant changes to reach their goal.

(Lead me from the untruth to the Truth.

Lead me from darkness to light.

Lead me from death to immortality.

Peace, peace…..)

This formula proved to be so potent in the light of true education. The teachers have brought magical transformation in the life of so many students which boosted their self –image and self confidence to walk in the path of success.

Once an Arithmetic teacher asked a six year old Willy, “If I give you one apple and one apple and one apple, how many apples will you have?” within a few seconds Willy confidently answered, “Four!” The teacher was dismayed as she was expecting an effortless answer which she deemed correct “Three!” She was greatly disappointed. She thought, May be Willy did not listen properly. She repeated the question but Willy answered, “Four!”  The disappointment stayed on the face of the teacher. She thought, may be Willy doesn’t like apples and that makes him to lose focus. This time the Teacher with excitement asked Willy,“ If I give you one strawberry and one strawberry and one strawberry how many will you have?” Seeing the teacher’s excitement young Willy calculated on his fingers and with a smile said, “Three!” the teacher was happy that her new approach succeeded. Before she congratulated, once again asked him the first question thinking that he would say the right answer but Willy answered confidently, “Four!” The teacher demanded in stern and irritated tone, “How Willy, how it is four?” In a low and hesitant voice Willy replied, “Because I already have one apple in my bag.” The teacher took the least effort and pain to learn the perspective of Willy.

Teachers need to change the mindset and preconditioning, if they have to understand the perspective of their students rightly. A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite imagination and instill the love of learning. It’s a great thing to celebrate teacher’s day and appreciate the contribution of teachers who become the pillars of strength and encouragement to students.

In the Bible we read, “Train a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not turn from it.”             (Proverbs 22:6)

Let’s walk an extra mile to impart value based education that dwells forever in the life of students and guide them to lead a quality life that involves dedication, positivity, basic values, leadership and integrity

As I appreciate all our professors for their selfless service, I wish with a sincere heart a Happy Teacher’s day. May Almighty God bless us and lead us to inspire the young hearts.
